The Mentors Behind the Breakthroughs

Every breakthrough starts with a tutor who truly knows the terrain. Our educators come with years of experience, having guided hundreds of students through the complex concepts of advanced mathematics and exam preparation. They don’t arrive with rigid scripts or one-size-fits-all blueprints. Instead, they bring a deep, intuitive understanding of how different minds learn.

When a student sits down for a session, the tutor understands the learning style of student and adapts accordingly, guiding them through the logic with patience and precision. It is an active, collaborative hour of steady practice, where confusion clears away to reveal practical next steps and real, quiet confidence.

Inside a live class

Step inside a real live class.

Every snapshot is from an actual one-to-one session the same maths topics students bring us each week. Here is what that hour really involves.

Every step written out
The tutor teaches on a live board, writing out and solving each problem step by step, so the method is clear, not just the answer.
A real conversation
Lessons are interactive: the tutor explains, asks questions, and checks the student is following before moving on.
Notes you keep
Worked solutions are saved and shared after class, so revision starts from the real lesson.
Instant feedback
Mistakes are caught and corrected on the spot, and every session ends with a clear next step.

How we choose tutors

We look for the habits students notice in a good teacher.

Real teachers, not just experts

Every tutor is a practising teacher, vetted for the clarity, patience, and exam-board experience that actually helps students.

Explained, never lectured

Students talk through their own reasoning, catch their own errors, and leave with a method they can repeat without help.

Built around the syllabus

Lessons track the student's exam board, syllabus, and test date, so every hour of practice stays relevant.

Ready across time zones

Scheduling and lesson notes are built for students in different school systems, calendars, and exam seasons.

Tutor matching

A better fit starts with better questions.

We do not assign tutors from a generic list. The match depends on what the student is studying, where they are stuck, and how they learn when a topic gets difficult.

  1. 01

Tell Us What Is Actually Going On

Bring the syllabus, recent test, homework, or just the topic that keeps causing trouble. We will start there.

  2. 02

    Meet a Tutor Who Fits

We match by subject level, exam board, pace, availability, and the kind of explanation the student responds to.

  3. 03

Use the Trial Like a Real Lesson

The trial is not a sales call. It is a working session, so you can judge the teaching before signing up.

What students get

Lessons that leave a trail.

After class, students should know what was covered, what to practise, and what will be checked next. That rhythm matters as much as the hour itself.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose my child's tutor?

Yes. If the matched tutor isn't the right fit, we'll help you select another tutor better suited to your child's learning needs.

Does the student need to keep their camera on during sessions?

Yes. We ask students to keep their camera on for the full session. It helps the tutor read understanding through non-verbal cues and keeps the lesson as close to an in-person experience as possible.

What do I need to get started with online sessions?

A PC or laptop with a stable internet connection, a working camera and microphone, and the Microsoft Teams desktop app. We recommend Teams on a computer rather than a phone, as screen sharing and the interactive whiteboard work best there. Each student also receives a dedicated @thecompleteequation.com email for logging in.

Will we get notes or homework after each lesson?

Every lesson leaves a clear trail: what was covered, what to practise, and what we will check next time. Notes and assignments are shared through Microsoft Teams so nothing gets lost between sessions.
